Historical Foundation: The Work of the Holy Spirit Leading the Church into All Truth

How do we identify the work of the Holy Spirit throughout the history of the Church? In speaking to his disciples, Jesus said, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.” (John 16:12-13) Connected with this, the Apostle Paul tells us that pastor-teachers are given to the Church by Christ to bring believers to the unity of the faith, to the full measure of the stature of Christ (Ephesians 4).
